Established in 2019, our goal at Coastal HR Consulting is to lessen the burden of small business owners trying to figure out how to maintain legal compliance as it relates to employees/Human Resources so that they may focus on customer satisfaction and other strategic goals. Once the employee model is established Coastal HR can partner with small businesses on strategic HR initiatives, including increasing employee satisfaction, decreasing turnover and planning for the workforce of the future.
Owner and founder Jennifer Duncan, Human Resources Consultant, is a distinguished HR professional, HR Master’s degree graduate from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR) and a recipient of the prestigious Meisinger Fellowship through the Society of Human Resources (SHRM). Jennifer has over ten years of experience working with manufacturing, healthcare, nonprofit, and small business organizations where she has partnered with business leaders to ensure that the organizations not only remain compliant with all federal and state regulations surrounding the employer-employee relationship -from hiring to ending the employment relationship but also create and implement strategies around increasing employee engagement, decreasing turnover, and planning for the workforce of the future. Jennifer is a strong believer in continuous development and has earned both her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certifications. Jennifer also enjoys teaching and is currently lecturing at California State University, Fullerton.
Her attraction to the field of Human Resources started with a blend of her two passions – a passion to help people and the satisfaction she feels when she is able to help solve difficult problems. Whether it was volunteering at nursing homes in middle school, assisting special needs kids in high school or being the go-to person for all of her friends when they needed help with a problem, she is happiest when she knows she has made a positive difference in the life of someone else. Jennifer lives this passion every single day in her career in Human Resources as she helps employees resolve problems with benefits, answer questions about pay, celebrate with and guide employees on how to take maternity or paternity leave, or just actively listen and provide support through Employee Assistance Program referrals when employees are going through a difficult time. Likewise, she thrives when she knows she has had an impact on the success of the business through a partnership with leaders on solving departmental structure issues, employee relations issues, or working with leaders on increasing employee engagement and decreasing unwanted turnover. She looks forward to bringing her passion and expertise to work for your business.
